The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) notified the former UFC heavyweight champion, who returned from a five-year layoff from MMA to defeat Mark Hunt (12-10-1 MMA, 7-4-1 UFC) in July 9’s UFC 200 pay-per-view co-headliner, of the potential failed drug test on Friday. It was the result of Lesnar’s (5-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) out-of-competition sample collected on June 28.
“USADA received the testing results from the June 28, 2016 sample collection from the WADA-accredited UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory on the evening of July 14, 2016,” UFC officials stated in a release on Friday. “USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.”
