As I predicted on my podcast this week,
(give it a listen at the above link) no major changes were going to happen to alter card for WrestleMania this year.
Here is most likely card for WrestleMania 32 this year:
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H vs Roman Reigns
Although Dean Ambrose foot was/wasn’t on rope, both men looked strong after their match and will be fine heading into Arlington, TX and WrestleMania. Roman Reigns almost was forgotten in this mini-feud but believe me, Roman Reigns will get his moment at WrestleMania. Believe that.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Prediction Ladder Match*
Kevin Owens vs Neville vs Sami Zayn vs Miz
We have seen Zayn/Owens feud reignite from NXT. Neville has been just floating above water and the same with the Miz. I expect everyone to somehow be involved with ‘Mania and I believe for the 2nd year in a row we are going to get a multi-man ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship. More guys can participate but these 4 will be in it for sure. I wanted to see a Steamboat/Savage match with Owens vs AJ Styles but I think we will get this feud for the summer. From what I heard they tore down the house last night in Atlantic City, NJ at house show.
WWE United States Championship
Kalisto vs Ryback
Ryback has been pushed, not pushed, pushed, not pushed. This heel turn I guess is another attempt at get another push for Ryback. Kalisto has been great taking advantage of the opportunity given to him. Many comparisons to Rey Misterio but Kalisto should focus on being Kalisto. Will be ok I guess for Mania.
WWE Tag Team Championship or Tag Match
New Day & Dolph Ziggler vs League of Nations
Writing is on the wall for this one. 3 on 1 on raw. Ziggler vs League of Nations. I expect an alliance between Ziggler & New Day in the coming days for this one. Would be crazy if titles were defended in this match ala 2000 booking. It will be an entertaining match nevertheless.
WWE Divas Championship
Charlotte vs Sasha Banks vs Becky Lynch
Divas Revolution coming in full circle. Although it started with a bang and slowed down a bit, this will be a great matchup at WrestleMania. If Charlotte and Natayla tore the house down last night in Toronto, I can imagine what will the three NXT graduates will bring to the table in front of 84,000 fans (for now) in AT&T Stadium on 4/3 at WrestleMania. After being part of Triple H entrance (Sasha and Charlotte) at WrestleMania 30, two years later this is finally their time to shine.
Street Fight, No DQs (whatever)
Brock Lesnar vs Dean Ambrose
Dean has had an amazing 2016. Finalist in rumble, main event of FastLane, main event of Roadblock. He had to be in some major program at Mania. Dean gets to go to Suplex City. Suplex City coined by Lesnar one year ago as he suplexed the heck out of Roman Reigns. Kayfabe or not is it believable for Dean to beat the former UFC Heavyweight Champion one on one, probably not. Now adding weapons and no disqualifications, make it a bit more believable. For Lesnar he clocks in and clocks out. This will be one entertaining matchup and one of the marquee matchups for mania. Whether Dean wins or loses at ‘Mania, he will carry his momentum into a title run in 2016.
Hell in a Cell, if Shane wins, he controls Raw
The Undertaker vs Shane McMahon
Do I love the return or Shane McMahon? Yes.
Do I love that his crazy self has a match at WrestleMania?
Do I love that he is facing the Undertaker at WrestleMania?
Undertaker has been a staple of WrestleMania for over the past two decades. His 22-1 record will never be matched. However, awkwardly booked from the beginning, I would have preferred Taker to wrestle an actual wrestler at WrestleMania. I don’t like Taker’s role as Vince’s mercenirary. It will be an entertaining match nevertheless. I also expect a guest referee of some sort to be added to stacked the odds for Shane I guess. At the end of the day, just do what is best of business.
Chris Jericho vs AJ Styles
We love heel Jericho. We don’t love the Big Show/Jericho amount of times they turned face/heel. Looking at the glass half full, they are baseball’s version of a utility player and can do it all. Special attraction match. Match as face, match as heel, get up and coming guy over. Both Show and Jericho do a great job of that.
AJ Styles was one of Pro Wrestling’s hottest agents picked up by WWE in 2016. AJ Styles made his return/debut at Royal Rumble. Lasted close to 30 minutes. Fought Jericho night after rumble (won), fought on Smackdown some weeks later (lost), fought at FastLane (won), Jericho turning on AJ Styles last week, classic. We don’t these long programming, long feuds anymore. This will probably steal the show and I expect AJ Styles to go 3-1 in the all time series vs Jericho. Folks these two will no doubt steal the show at WrestleMania.
Rest of people:
Andre the Giant Giant Battle Royal in WrestleMania Pre-Show. Main card will be locked with 8 matches. I also expect Mick Foley and advertised of course (The Rock) will probably open up with another promo.
There it is guys, your Mania card.
